Miriah was trained in classical violin and has been a member of the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra and the UAA Sinfonia. She performs now with the Super Saturated Sugar Strings, a group that’s a little hard to describe but very easy to hear online.
Roger David
Roger is pursuing a degree in music education from UAA, where he plays in the University Sinfonia. He’s also a football coach for (state champions!) West High School. He teaches violin, viola, cello, guitar and piano.
Sarah Cruz
The only licensed pilot on our staff, Sarah has a degree in aeronautics from Embry-Riddle University, where she also studied music. She teaches both classical violin and bluegrass fiddle styles.
Kathryn Moore
Kathryn plays piano, cello, violin and guitar in a narrow range of styles including rock, classical, jazz, Celtic and Cajun. She’s working on a music education degree from UAA and performs with Miriah in the Super Saturated Sugar Strings.
David, the owner of Hillside Music, has been teaching fiddle for 16 years. He specializes in bluegrass, country, Irish, Appalachian and Cajun styles.
Tovi Newman
Tovi has a degree in music education from UAA and training in the Suzuki method. He plays locally with The Standard Deviations, a jazz combo, and Acai, a Brazilian music ensemble.
